“Sustainable Cities in a Changing Climate” Seminar Series Events

Posted in environnement, Vue sur le monde by Jean-Philippe Maltais on 2010/03/05

The nature of the cities.

Dear friends
The two events described below may be of interest to some of you. The events were forwarded to me by David Baumann who is a research assistant for the McGill Institute for Health and Social Policy and has come to some of our Green Drinks events.

Cheers
Chris

Our featured film, “The Nature of Cities,” is an hour long documentary that focuses on innovative green programs and projects in urban settings worldwide. The Nature of Cities – explores both the nature in our own backyards- Austin and San Diego and the possibilities in projects of cities of the future- Malmo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Freiburg, Amsterdam and Paris. The film features Sustainable Communities professor Timothy Beatley as he tours these places with City Planners, Landscape Architects, Ecologists and Residents.
Commentary provide the background for looking at the living possibilities of how we can be in an urban environment integrated with the nature around us. A trailer for the film can be found here. Also, don’t forget about the popcorn!
